NTU at 70 in QS World University Rankings 2015/16

National Taiwan University climbed six notches to number 70 in the 2015/16 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. This year’s results were published on the QS website on September 15, and NTU was again the only Taiwan university to enter into the top 100.

The good news came after 32 of our subjects were ranked among the world's top 200 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject published in April this year. Among the 32 subjects, 26 made it into the top 100, and 17 into the top 50. Electrical & Electronic Engineering, which ranked 20 last year, climbed five spaces up in the rankings to number 15.

In addition to groundbreaking research, NTU has been promoting innovative teaching in recent years. The efforts have been made evident in the University’s successful campaign in promoting Massive Open Online Courses as our courses on Coursera has time and again been listed as the world’s most popular Chinese courses.

Our top Chinese courses include “Flipped Classroom” by Prof. Ping-Cheng Benson Yeh (葉丙成), "Knowing the Heaven” by Prof. Wei-Hsin Sun (孫維新), “The Red Chamber Dream” by Prof. Li-Chuan Ou (歐麗娟), and "Shi-ji" by Prof. Shih-Hao Lu (呂世浩).

In addition, Prof. Yeh was awarded first place of the Reimagine Education Overall Award for his popular online learning game, PaGamO. The award, which was organized by Quacquarelli Symonds in collaboration with The Wharton School SEI Center of the University of Pennsylvania, has been dubbed the “Oscars” of innovation in higher education.

The QS rankings are the results of the efforts put in by our faculty, student, and research communities. In the future, NTU will continue to strive for excellence in becoming a leading Chinese language institution in the world.
