The Taiwan-Czechia Forum on Democratic Resilience was held at the Zonghe Lecture Building on March 28.
Czech Parliament Chamber of Deputies Speaker Markéta Pekarová Adamová led a delegation of more than 30 Czech delegates to visit NTU on the afternoon of March 28. Speaker Adamová and the delegation attended the Taiwan-Czechia Forum on Democratic Resilience, co-held by NTU and European Values Center for Security Policy. The guests were warmly welcomed by NTU President Wen-Chang Chen (陳文章) and Vice President for International Affairs Hsiao Wei Yuan (袁孝維).
During the forum, President Chen and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Roy Chun Lee (李淳) gave welcoming and opening remarks. In particular, President Chen mentioned that NTU had been long-term partner with Charles University, where Speaker Adamová graduated, exhibiting NTU’s academic connection with Czechia.
Speaker Adamová further expressed the similarity in democratic values between Taiwan and Czechia. In the following two panels, moderators EVC Taiwan Office Head Marcin Jerzewski and NTU Hu Fu Center for East Asia Democratic Studies Director Min-Hua Huang (黃旻華), as well as Czechia speakers Jakub Janda, Pavel Stepanik, Benedikt Vangeli, Ukraine speakers Mariia Makarovych, Mariia Kovach-Butsko, the NTU Graduate Institute of Journalism Director Chen-Ling Hung (洪貞玲), and NTU’s College of Law Associate Professor Hui-Chieh Su (蘇慧婕) continued relevant academic discussions.
The forum received great interests from NTU students and faculty alike. The audience also discussed lively with the panelists, drawing a successful closing to the forum and a start of new academic collaborations between NTU and the Czech Republic.
