Updated NTU Epidemic Prevention Measures for Confirmed Cases, Close Contacts, and Casual Contacts

In accordance with the latest epidemic prevention measures announced by CECC, the university has adjusted NTU epidemic prevention measures as follows.

Individuals positive for COVID-19：

Please conduct home isolation for 10 days and conduct self-health management for the subsequent seven days at home whenever possible. International students or those who have difficulty returning home but must be quarantined in dormitories should separate themselves from close contacts and residential students.

Individuals listed as close contacts:

1. If you are tested positive on a self-conducted rapid test, please take a PCR test as soon as possible.
2. If you are tested negative on a rapid or PCR test, please take isolation (at home if possible) for three days and conduct four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention. During the four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention period, it is not allowed to come to work or attend classes on campus. If the individual has to leave their residences during such time period, they must wear a face mask and must not dine outside of residence or go to places where people gather. International students or those who have difficulty returning home but must be quarantined in dormitories should separate themselves from close contacts and general residential students.
3. If you have been listed as close contact and under quarantine, please take one of the following measures based on your situation.
   1) Your isolation period has reached seven days on April 26: If you are tested negative on a rapid test, you can be released from isolation and return to school or work.
   2) Your isolation period has reached three days but not reached seven days on April 26: Please conduct four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention and do not come to work or attend classes on campus.
   3) Your isolation period has not yet reached three days on April 26: Please continue to take isolation until the third day of the period, and then take four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention, and do not come to work or attend classes during the seven-day period.
4. If you are listed as a close contact because your family member becomes a confirmed case, please take home isolation in a separate room for three days and then take the four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention. Do not come to school or work on campus during the seven-day period. If you need to take care of your family member positive for COVID-19, from the day of your last exposure to the confirmed case, please take home isolation for three days and then take the four-day self-initiated epidemic prevention. Please do not come to school or work at NTU during the seven-day period. If your family member is listed as a confirmed case or close contact and takes isolation in a separate room, you may come to school or work on campus.

Regulation adjusted for self-health management:

The original regulation announced on April 25 stated that those who conduct self-health monitoring are not allowed to enter any buildings or indoor public places on the NTU campus, nor can they participate in any outdoor club activities or gatherings held on campus.

As of April 27, this regulation has been adjusted to be consistent with the regulation announced by the Ministry of Education. As long as the self-protection measures are properly taken, a faculty or staff member at NTU who is conducting self-health management can enter their offices or research laboratories. However, during such time periods, they are not allowed to attend classes or head to places where people gather. An NTU student conducting self-monitoring can go to a research laboratory but cannot enter dormitories, attend classes, or head to places where people gather.

Regulation adjusted for casual contacts:

The former announcement of the NTU COVID-19 prevention measure for casual contacts has also been adjusted. The updated regulation for casual contacts at NTU is that from the day after the day a confirmed case is reported, a casual contact of this confirmed case should conduct self-health monitoring for three days. During the time of self-health monitoring, casual contacts can work or attend classes on campus. Please note that “casual contacts” are those who have been close to a confirmed case in the same class or school club activities, on the same floor in dormitories, or on the same transportation, but with lower risks of being infected with COVID-19.

The university urges all the units at NTU to continue to implement cleaning and disinfection measures at the workplaces or learning environments such as study rooms or laboratories and keep daily records. All the NTU community members should enhance personal protection measures, including wearing face masks properly, avoiding face-to-face interactions without a face mask on like dining, keeping hands clean, and being fully vaccinated. If possible COVID-19 symptoms develop, please perform a rapid test with a home rapid test kit immediately.
