Spotlights
NTU has a stellar record in THE World Reputations Rankings over the past decade.
In the World Reputation Rankings 2020 survey recently released by Times Higher Education (THE), NTU was ranked 40th, improving significantly from the 51-60 band last year. The Rankings were based on a survey of 10,000 scholars from more than 100 countries, which asked the scholars to name 15 universities that they believe are the best according to their experience. THE then used the survey data to rank the top 100 universities around the world. Back in 2011, NTU was found in the 81-90 band and saw a fluctuating climb over the following years, but most of the time fell in the group of 51-60. This year, NTU rose significantly to the 40th, reflecting the success of various efforts NTU made to improve its academic performance and increase its global visibility.
In the Rankings 2020, many top-ranked universities are NTU’s partner institutions. Among those of similar rank as NTU, Carnegie Mellon was ranked 36th, followed by the 38th-ranked University of British Columbia and the 39th University of Melbourne. Canada’s McGill University was ranked alongside NTU at 40th, followed by Georgia Institute of Technology (44th) and Seoul National University (45th).
As NTU strives for excellence, all such world rankings will serve as the yardsticks against which NTU can measure itself compared to the top universities while creating a sustainable and innovative academic environment.
