South China Morning Post interviews Interim President Kuo on NTU’s internationalization and multidisciplinary education.

As 2018 marks the 90th anniversary of NTU, Interim President Tei-Wei Kuo (郭大維) was interviewed by the Hong Kong-based English-language newspaper, South China Morning Post. In the interview, Dr. Kuo talked about how NTU has been a driver of change for the history and society of Taiwan, playing a key role in facilitating various scientific/industrial reforms and progress. Besides making major contributions in fields such as epidemic control, meteorology, and cancer research, NTU has turned to multidisciplinary education and achieved breakthrough research results in recent years.

NTU’s comprehensive course offerings and breakthrough research have reinforced its legacy as the nation’s oldest public university. Moreover, its emphasis on internationalization and multidisciplinary education has boosted global partnerships and developed a conducive environment for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Dr. Kuo also pointed out that it is NTU’s “culture of academic freedom in pursuing excellence not just in research, but also in teaching” that has brought the University thus far.

The launch of the International Industry Liaison Office last year provides a one-stop shop for academia-industry collaborations, enhancing NTU’s scope of both academic and industrial partnerships. NTU offers 800 English-taught courses, 60 dual degree programs, and a tri-degree program with leading universities around the world. We welcome students, faculty members, researchers, and industry partners globally to join us and explore more opportunities in our NTU community.
