Prof. Ding-Shinn Chen was awarded the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon for his seminal contributions to hepatitis prevention.
NTU Prof. and Academician Ding-Shinn Chen (陳定信) was awarded the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon by R.O.C. President Ing-Wen Tsai (蔡英文) on July 19 for his seminal contribution to hepatitis R&D and prevention in Taiwan and across the world.
At the awarding ceremony, Prof. Chen attributed Taiwan’s outstanding achievements in hepatitis prevention to the concerted efforts of medical, academic, public health, and non-government organizations, as well as active government intervention. Prof. Chen also thanked his family members for their long-term support, and particularly his wife, Hsu-Mei Hsu (許須美), for helping facilitate the Hepatitis B Prevention Program when she served at the Department of Health (later upgraded to the Ministry of Health and Welfare) under the Executive Yuan.
