NTU Ranks 51-60 in World Reputation Rankings 2017
NTU ranks 51-60 in the World Reputation Rankings 2017 released by Times Higher Education on June 14. In this year’s rankings, NTU regains its level back in 2014, being the only university in Taiwan to rank among the top 100 most powerful universities worldwide.
In the Academic Research Survey conducted jointly by Times Higher Education and Elsevier, questionnaires available in 15 languages were distributed to 10,566 scholars, who had an average experience of over 15 years in higher education and research, in 137 countries from January to March, 2017.
Physical sciences were the best represented subject (accounting for 14.6% of responses), followed by clinical and health (14.5%), life sciences (13.3%), business and economics (13.1%), engineering (12.7%), arts and humanities (12.5%), social sciences (8.9%), computer sciences (4.2%), education (2.6%), psychology (2.6%), and law (0.9%). Of the total responses received, 22%, 33%, 25%, 11%, 5%, 3%, and 2% came from the North American, Asia-Pacific, West European, East European, Latin American, Middle East, and African regions, respectively.
In this survey, universities worldwide were evaluated for their research and teaching quality. The scores of the two categories were combined at a ratio of 2:1 because respondents were believed to be more capable of making accurate judgments about research quality.
