Minister of Science and Technology Liang-Gee Chen elected Fellow of U.S. National Academy of Inventors
April 7, 2017. Newly elected fellows were honored at the Sixth Annual Conference of the National Institute of Inventors (NAI) convened in Boston, Massachusetts. Three of the fellows honored hail from Taiwan: Liang-Gee Chen, Minister of Science and Technology; Yun Yen, president of Taipei Medical University; and Oliver Yoa-Pu Hu, professor of pharmacy at the National Defense Medical Center.
NAI elected 175 new fellows in 2016. Taiwanese scholars who have been elected fellows previously include James C. Liao, president of Academia Sinica; Pan-Chyr Yang, president of National Taiwan University; Mau-Chung Frank Chang, president of National Chiao-Tung University; and several Academicians of Academia Sinica, including Shu Chien, Paul C.W. Chu, and Wen-Hwa Lee. A total of 757 scholars worldwide have been elected Fellows of the NAI, 28 of whom are also Nobel Laureates and 45 are recipients of the U.S. National Medal of Technology and Innovation and the U.S. National Medal of Science.
